ABOUT THE GAMING VAULT COMPANY
We are a small retro game shop, and small means what it sounds like. Every order that leaves here has been through someone’s hands rather than a warehouse conveyor. Consoles get opened, cleaned and tested. Cartridges get checked against known-good boards. Nothing goes on the site until it has actually been played.
A lot of what we stock is hardware somebody else gave up on. A console that stopped reading carts, a controller with a drifting stick, a box of games out of an attic clean-out. We would rather bring that back and sell it honestly than let it end up in landfill.
WHY WE TEST EVERYTHING
The retro market has a counterfeit problem. Reproduction cartridges with printed labels and cloned boards are everywhere, and most buyers cannot spot them until the save battery dies or the game refuses to boot.
So we check every item by hand. Consoles get opened, cleaned, recapped where needed and run for a full session before they are listed. Cartridges get board-checked against known-good references. If something is a repro, we do not sell it.
That is the whole business. No mystery boxes, no inflated grading, no surprises when the parcel lands.

HOW AN ITEM GETS LISTED
A console gets opened the same day it lands. Dust and old grime come out, the cartridge slot and controller ports get cleaned, and if the capacitors are past their service life we recap it rather than pretend that forty year old hardware is fine as it is. Then it runs for a full session, long enough for heat problems and bad video output to show themselves.
Cartridges get their own check. The board comes out of the shell and sits next to a known-good reference: label printing, chip markings, board revision, save battery. If any of that looks wrong the cart does not get listed, and it does not quietly reappear later as untested.
Then we photograph the actual item you will receive. Not a stock image, not a better looking one from last month. If there is a scuff on the shell or a sticker mark on the label, it is in the photos and it is in the description.
WHAT WE WILL NOT DO
No reproductions, in any form. No mystery boxes. No grading language where mint quietly means fine from a distance. And nothing gets described as tested when it has only been switched on to see whether the light comes up.
We would rather lose a sale than talk someone into the wrong console. If you are not sure a system will do what you want, ask before you buy. And if something is not right when it arrives, you have thirty days to send it back, with the return covered when the fault is ours.
